In the Promise of Community Action, the last line declares that “we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other”. This means we work to give our neighbors the tools they need to build a better life for themselves and get on the path of self-sufficiency. CVCAA understands that while paying a utility bill or helping get a family into a unit is life-changing, there are so many other costs and barriers to being stably housed. That’s why, around this time last year, CVCAA partnered with Superior Healthplan to open a local Hygiene Closet where anyone who needs it could come receive a variety of full-sized hygiene products.
After successfully operating the Hygiene Closet for numerous months, Superior Healthplan was happy to partner with CVCAA again! On March 16th, we were able to hold our first Hygiene Distribution Day, which is now held on the third Thursday of every month. The Hygiene Distribution days are from 1 pm-3 pm in our office lobby. These two hours are specifically set aside to give them out in bulk and connect them to our Superior Healthplan representative set up there. If anyone is unable to come to our Hygiene Distribution Day, they are welcome to stop by our office during opening hours and get one.
To receive your free hygiene bag, all you need to do is fill out the short form with basic information. We do not need any documents or proof of income. On the form, you will select what 5 big items you would like in addition to the toothbrush and basic items in every bag. With our updated list, we hope to keep everything in stock for as long as possible. If there are any faith-based organizations or school groups interested in doing a collection of any of the above items to donate to our hygiene closet, we would be so happy to talk to you!
