Housing Assistance

The Tenant-Based Rental Assistance program is a rental program designed to assist households with their housing expenses, while they focus on becoming self-sufficient. The program is able to assist families by providing assistance with security deposits and rental subsidies for up to 24 months.

To Qualify for TBRA household must:

  • Participate in a Self-Sufficiency plan.

  • Must have earnings at or below 80% of the Area Median Family Income (AMFI) See below for how to determine that

  • Live in Coke, Concho, Sterling, Reagan, Kimble, Sutton, Crockett, Menard, Irion, Schleicher, or Tom Green (outside the City of San Angelo) County.

CVCAA is excited to roll out our newest long-term rental assistance program for residents inside the city limits of San Angelo. Tenant-Based Rental Assistance for Persons with Disabilities (TBRA PWD) covers a portion of a household's rent for up to two years!

To Qualify for TBRA PWD, the household must:

  • Have a documented disability
  • Must be receiving income
  • Not behind on rent from previous months
  • Income must be at or below 80% of Area Median Income. See below for how to determine that
  • Live inside the city limits of San Angelo or anywhere in our 11-county service area

*If you are a San Angelo resident and need help keeping up with your monthly rental payment and no one in the home has a disability, please contact the City of San Angelo Community & Housing Support Department at (325) 655-0824.

Our Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) program helps eliminate the barriers that keep households out of a home. HSS helps to cover the upfront costs of getting into a unit such as security/pet deposits and admin fees.

This program does NOT cover any rent, so households must have some kind of income to sustain the unit once they are moved in. Our dedicated housing staff will also help navigate available units and inspect for safety.
